Google AI Overviews
Google AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google shows at the top of many search results, synthesizing an answer from multiple sources and citing a handful of them.
Formerly called the Search Generative Experience (SGE), AI Overviews sit above the traditional organic results and often above the Local Pack. When Google shows one, it can dramatically reduce clicks to the ranked pages beneath it — so being cited inside the Overview matters more than ranking below it.
Getting cited in AI Overviews is a core goal of Answer Engine Optimization: clear, factual, well-structured content with strong topical authority and Schema Markup is more likely to be pulled into the summary.
Frequently asked
How do I appear in Google AI Overviews?
Publish clear, well-structured, factual content on topics you have authority for, mark it up with schema, and earn citations. Then track whether you actually appear — AI Overview presence can be measured, not just guessed at.
